GMAT - New format
Well, this is good news. I have always maintained that one of the essays in GMAT was redundant. Going forward, from 2012, one of the AWA essays might be replaced with something more meaningful. Check here : http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/New-format-for-GMAT-exams/articleshow/6093106.cms
Couple of quick notes/queries in relation to this.
1. Would students still be required to take Toefl? I ask this because as I see it, this new addition to the test has an audio format as well. On the flipside, the many students who end up clearing GMAT without having to know the spoken/hearing part of the language would be disadvantaged. Will this a move be a deterrent to the aforementioned phenomenon?
2. Price of all training material viz Kaplan, Princeton, Manhattan is bound to shoot up. The introduction of an audio component usually does that to material.
3. Distribution of material related to this section would be a bit difficult - which spells well for the respective proprietors.
4. GMAC has done this for the 10th time now. What the process does for one is it makes the GMAT gyangurus and bloggers to keep themselves constantly updated. Effectively, you cannot just create a training blog and forget about it while the PPCs keep earning you moolah.
How this thing shapes up and how the rest of the affected parties shall pan out - only time will tell.
